Lā Mele is a program which brings both the community and the academy together to celebrate mele and mele practitioners. Lā Mele features intellectual and engaging sessions on the topic of mele including: Mele Panel Discussions, Mele Performances, Mele sing-a-long sessions and a Mele Choral Competition featuring Hawaiian Immersion and Charter Schools. To date, Ka Waihona A Ke Aloha has documented eight annual Lā Mele programs, 35 Guest Lecture Performers, 34 school choir participants and 32 hours of video documentation.
