Nā Mele O Hawaiʻi Nei focuses on the digitization of mele recorded on vintage vinyl recordings featuring revered mele practitioners, who, for the most part were native speakers or trained by those who were learned in the art of mele performance. These include 45, 78 & 33 1/3 rpm recordings from the Bishop Museum Audio Recording Disc Collection, the Kimo Alama Keaulana Collection, the R. Keawe Lopes Jr. Collection, the House of Music Collection and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Sinclair Library Vinyl Collection. To date, Ka Waihona A Ke Aloha stewards over 14,784 mele recordings.
